Rme Fireface 400 Driver For Mac Osx

Hi there, I've received a fireface UC from a friend as a gift. I'm trying to install it both on windows and mac with no luck. I run Windows 7 and Mac 10.9.5.
On mac i can install the drivers but nothing opens. There is a flash but the soundcard is not recognized even in the preferences.
In Windows the drivers install but I can't find the mix software that would show me the card.
Any help?
The card seems to work properly (my friend is a quite tidy guy) the rotary knob works (and displays the expected AP, PC for the operative system), and there is a red led on for HOST, which maybe is the problem?
Any ideas?
